How are trending books calculated?

Trending books for your school change on a regular basis.

This is how we work out which books are trending in your school.

We look over the previous 2 week period:
  • We get the top 20 books that have at least one reading session logged against them by a student in the school, ordered by books that have been read by most students
  • If the number of students reading is the same, e.g 2 books have been read by 5 students, we then order by the total number of reading sessions in that two week period (e.g if book A had been read by 5 students a total of 20 times whereas book B had been read by 5 students a total of 10 times, Book A ranks higher)
  • What this means is if we have two books (Book C and Book D), if Book C had been read one each by 5 different students, but Book D had been read 20 times by 1 individual student only, Book C would rank higher.
  • We receive a list of the results on a Monday morning and remove any reading scheme or phonics books that we can find from this list manually.
