It's completely up to each school if they want to use pupil logins or not. It's also entirely teacher led. If a teacher or school decide they don't want pupils to have their own logins they don't have to give them to their pupils. They can just let parents log reading at home.
A bit more information about pupil logins
Pupil logins are designed to be used at home. Some schools want older pupils to log their own reading rather than parents logging their reading so they have more ownership over their own reading.
If pupils have their own logins everything is addressed to them. For example, I read Malamander, rather than Johnny read Malamander. There's also more of an opportunity for children to discover books on their own device.
Pupil logins - can I use them in school?
Pupil logins are not designed to be used in school. Scan and log is much quicker and easier to use in school. This is because scan and log is quicker as the class can scan a QR code and select their name, rather than having to log in each time in school.
